A World Statesman?

I read with incredulous amazement that Gordon Brown has received an award as "World Statesman of the Year" from some American organisation. This bizarre award to someone who is arguably the worse prime minister we have ever had could not possibly have been given by anyone who knows his record. It must have been Buggins' turn. The trouble with giving him something like that is that it will only inflate his ego even further. Can anyone say why he should have received it? If so, please comment below and I will read it with interest.

    My view, as someone who has recently returned from living in France, is that he is probably better than Fillon and definitely better than Sarkozy. At least he is not a kiddy fiddler like Berlusconi. It's good to be back in blighty. I like Brown's wife with the "I love my husband so you should too" speech - a little bit quirky, a little bit sad but quite sweetly contrived n'est-ce pas?

    Thanks for that, Dom. Maybe you will change your mind when you have been living back here for a little bit longer! Not much could be worse than Gordon Brown. As for his wife, yes, she seems quite sweet, and one can't help feeling sorry for her. However, she may be more ambitious than she looks.
